Shenfield High School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We have implemented robust recruitment procedures and checks for appointing staff and volunteers to ensure that every effort is made to recruit candidates who are suitable to work with children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We have developed a positive and proactive approach to safeguarding in order to best protect all children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend or visit the School or engage in associated activities, enabling them to participate and achieve in an enjoyable and safe environment.  We facilitate a range of child protection and  awareness training for all staff and volunteers and demonstrate best practice in the area of safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people.

We maintain that the welfare of young people is, and must always be, the paramount consideration.  All children, young people and vulnerable adults have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity.  All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.  Working in partnership with children, young people and their parents/carers is an essential element of our work.

Shenfield High School is a co-educational 11-18 academy school with a commitment to high standards, a holistic approach, student wellbeing and learning for life.  We expect all staff to share this philosophy. The school is on the London Fringe (easy commuting from Liverpool Street).  We are popular and expanding and fully committed to the professional development of all our staff.

Candidates will be expected to complete the Application Form, whether or not they submit a separate CV. On interview day, candidates will be asked to bring photographic proof of identity, a utility bill (to prove their address) and their qualification Certificates. These must be originals (which will be photocopied for our files and returned to you) and are a necessary pre-requisite for the enhanced DBS check required of the successful applicant. In the interview itself, candidates should expect questions probing their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children.
