Careers Education and Guidance
Shenfield High School has a comprehensive Careers Education and Guidance programme to support Sixth Form students to make the best possible choices for their next steps after completing their studies here. Students have plenty of opportunities to find out about different industries at our annual Careers Fair in October and through our regular Industry Talks held throughout the year. All students in Year 12 also take part in a two-week work experience placement, which is an excellent chance to gain detailed insight into a particular industry and often leads students to future opportunities, contacts and even apprenticeship or job offers after Sixth Form.
Whether students wish to pursue Higher Education at university or an Apprenticeship, there is a wealth of support available. Those who wish to apply for university are carefully guided through every step of the process of applications, personal statements and interviews by experienced and knowledgeable staff. Students who wish to pursue apprenticeships are equally supported through regular information about local and regional apprenticeship opportunities, CV writing and application workshops and support for interviews and assessment days.
We have a highly experienced Careers Advisor providing independent information, advice and guidance interviews for sixth form students. All students are able to book an appointment to see our careers advisor to discuss university applications, apprenticeships, or general information about different industries. A dedicated Sixth Form team, as well as Sixth Form tutors and Sixth Form teachers are also on hand to assist and support students as they make key decisions about the next steps on their career journey.
